Valentine's, Self Love Tips

So 'that' day has come, the dreaded 14th of February where couples celebrate being together and we are bombarded with pictures on Instagram of roses, cards, MK watches and Christian Louboutins. I've always LOVED valentines, whether I'm in a relationship or not. However this is for all the single ladies feeling very lonely, wanting to stuff their faces with Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream and cry into a pillow whilst watching The Notebook haha. We've all been there girls :) however I've written a few of my favourite quotes and some of my tips and tricks to getting you on to your own 'self love' journey.

Self Acceptance is seeing yourself through somebody else's eyes and being happy with what you see. We are surrounded by people's opinions and judgement all the time and we seem to get ourselves lost in the online world and forget what and who really matters, that is yourself.

So begin waking up and drinking a huge glass of water, it sounds silly but you've just gone 6-8 hours without fluids, you're dehydrated and your mood will lift instantly.

Try not to look on social media as soon as you wake up, get out of bed and stretch, do yoga or meditate. All three of these things will release stress from your body and relax your muscles.

Take a bubble bath or a hot shower and listen to your top 5 favourite songs.

Talk yourself happy. Look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are beautiful and worthy, list 3 things you like about yourself that day and note them down somewhere.

Take up a hobby, something that you love or even something that you've never tried before but always wanted to, you never know just how in love with it you might be.

Take a walk and have some time for yourself. Fresh air and the outdoors is a great way of cleansing your mind and bad thoughts. Dust them away.

Breathe, every time you feel stressed, just take a minute to breathe. Be patient with yourself.

Show gratitude. Be grateful for everything you have in your life and appreciate all the things that you are good at. Love yourself, flaws and all.

Eat good, exercise regularly and drink plenty of water.
Be good to your body and your body will be good to you.

Here are some quotes:

- I am proud of the woman I am today because I went through one hell of a time becoming her.

- Lose yourself in the things you love, for that is where you will find yourself too.

- Someone who is worthy of your love will never put you in a situation where you feel you must sacrifice your dignity, your integrity or your self-worth to be with them.

- Putting yourself first isn't selfish but necessary.

- I am taking care of myself today.

- Eat like you love yourself. Move like you love yourself. Speak like you love yourself. Act like you love yourself.

- I'm every woman, its all in me.

- Don't wonder away from yourself to get close to someone else.

- I don't like to gamble, but if theres one thing i'm willing to bet on, its myself.

- Love yourself as much as you want to be loved.

- Have patience with all things but first with yourself. Never confuse your mistakes with your value as a human being. You're a perfectly valuable, creative, worthwhile person simply because you exist. No amount of triumphs and tribulations can ever change that. Unconditional self-acceptance is the core of a peaceful mind.

I hope you have a lovely Sunday and Valentines, whatever you get up to. Single or not, enjoy today. Valentine's is a special day for those who celebrate it but remember, the only Valentine you really need is yourself.

Lots of love, always.
