Dear 13 Year Old Me.

(I don't actually have any photos of me when I was 13, so heres a bunch of embarrassing baby photos instead)

If I could go back in time and write a diary of how my life was going to be, I probably would. Just for some reassurance that things in life do get a little bit shitty but eventually everything falls into place.

My teen years weren't so great and I felt really out of place the majority of the time. I suffered with depression, anxiety and low self esteem. I never felt good enough and now that i'm in a happier place, I thought I would reflect on how I felt back then and what i've learned in the process.
So this is what I would tell my 13 year old self.

1. High school friends and popularity really doesn't matter. That's 5 years of your life to have fun and learn, after that, it's gone. So get your head down and focus instead of worrying about your social status.

2. The friends that you have now, won't be your friends in 7 years time. When you grow up, not everyone grows up with you but thats okay.

3. Boys don't matter at this age. Worry more about being a teenager than having a love life. Boys come and go, just like your friends.

4. You will feel lost growing up, not knowing who you are and where you're going but you'll find yourself. I promise you will.

5. Believe in you. Work with what you have and own it.

6. Take more pictures. When you grow older, you'll want to look back and reminisce through photographs.

7. Start saving your money for the future, £1 a day or even 50p will make a huge difference and take you places when you're older.

8. Be kind. Girls are going to be mean, boys may tease you but keep being the lady your mother raised, with strength and dignity and be kind, always.

9. You are worthy. Worthy of love, worthy of education, worthy of respect and worth much more than the size of your jeans, body type and your hair texture.

10. Say YES more often and be open to new experiences and opportunities. Don't let anxiety get in your way.

What would you tell your younger self? I would love to know.
