How To: Be A Morning Person

My friends always tell me that I'm such a morning person, as in, I never sleep in. I'm always the first one awake, full of life! - the first one on my phone, opening the curtains and then playing music. I never used to be like this, during the ages of 15-17, I was really sluggish and I could sleep in until gone 11am, my idea of a lie in now is 8:30am. Here are some of my tips on how to be a morning person.

1. Listen To Music
- As soon as you wake up, put on your favourite song or playlist on Spotify. I know most of you reach for your phone as soon as you wake up, so go straight to Spotify/YouTube and search for that feel good song that you enjoy. Music always makes me happy, no matter what genre and I always want to get up and dance. Before you know it, you're out of bed.

2. Open Your Curtains
- I have light grey curtains in my bedroom, so all throughout the summer, the sun would beam through my room at 6am in the morning. I found this so frustrating because it would always wake me up before the time that I needed to be and sometimes I really do appreciate the extra sleep whenever I can get it. So now that it's winter and the mornings are darker, it can feel incredibly hard to get out of bed. My tip would be to open your curtains/blinds straight away or before going to bed, don't have them completely shut. That way, some sort of light will peep through and help you wake up.

3. Shower
- I know the thought of getting out of a hot shower when it's -5 outside is heartbreaking but.. it has to be done. Use shower creams with peppermint and green tea oils because those scents will really wake you up. Also, splash your face with cold water.

4. Organise The Night Before
- By this, I mean to organise what clothes you'll be wearing that day and to also have your makeup products laid out on your dressing table. That way, everything is already done for you. You'll know exactly what you're wearing and what makeup you're using. No faffing around, plus you're saving time.

5. Get Enough Sleep
- In my opinion, there is no way in hell that anyone could be a morning person when they are running on 5 hours sleep. The recommended amount of sleep for an adult is 7 to 9 hours. I personally have to have between 8-10 hours, just because I know that's what works best with my body. However, even if I was to have less than that, my body is so used to my early routine that I still naturally wake up around 7-8:30am. So make sure you're going to bed at a decent hour if you want to wake up earlier.

I hope these tips help you in some way. Are you or are you not a morning person? Let me know.
