Why Self Care Is So Important

Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of others. Feeding your mind with self-love and positive affirmations will move mountains for you and this is something that I don't think people practice enough. Stress is something that we all deal with, whether you're a mother, a student, male or female, sometimes life gets a little too much.

Don't be so hard on yourself, you are good enough. Treat yourself the same way that you would treat your best friend, be kind and do right by you, for you. Forgive yourself for the wrongs that you have done, you are human, you're not perfect. You will make mistakes, you will be lazy but at the same time, you will work hard. You'll become exhausted and you need to know when the right time is to stop, slow down and breathe.

It's 2017 now, a new year has come around and I think it's about time that changes are made. I've listed 5 things that you can do to practice self love that will hopefully, fingers crossed, change your life. .

Let Go.
This can apply to anything and anyone in any given situation. Let go of that guy/girl that's broken your heart and makes you feel weak, let go of friendships that do not uplift your soul and make you feel good about yourself, let go of your shitty job that doesn't make you happy anymore. Learn to let go of everything that's pulling you down instead of pushing you forward.

Time Alone.
Depending on the type of person you are, I think time out from everything and everyone is crucial. Sometimes we give far too much of ourselves to others but not enough time to ourselves, to unwind, destress etc. Even if it's just 30 minutes out of your day, maybe have a bubble bath or pamper yourself. Just take some time out for you and do something that you enjoy, alone.

Get Enough Sleep.
With responsibility, comes stress and endless worry, which effects your sleeping ability and pattern. You need to have at least 8 hours sleep a night otherwise you'll become exhausted, run down and unmotivated.

Even if you're not a big reader, I'm not a massive one either but I do enjoy reading books on topics that I'm interested in. If you haven't already, read "The Secret" - That book changed my life and the way I look at situations. It basically teaches you that you can have anything you want in life, as long as you put positive thoughts into the universe, that is exactly what you will attract. It's also a documentary on Netflix, if you want to look it up.

Exercising in general has huge benefits for both your body and mind. It allows blood to pump to your brain which can help prevent depression and other mental health issues. Yoga, besides helping with your flexability, can help you relax and feel very 'zen'. In general, anything that is good for your heart, is good for your mind.

Remember, don't be so hard on yourself. You are doing the best you can.

Love, always..
